The uniqueness of the programme of studies offered by the Intl School of Creative Science lies in the integration of the two curricula offered at the school: the National Curriculum for England and Wales and the UAE Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social studies curriculum. When a school offers a dual curriculum, there is always a risk of having the different departments working in isolation, creating a dichotomy in the programme offered.
At ISCS, right from the start, the English and Arabic departments adopt a common approach and ensure that links are established between the different subjects. In the KG dept for instance, both departments adopt an area-of-learning based curriculum and story books used in the English classes are translated in Arabic so that children can listen and interact with the same story in both languages.. At the primary level, the school adopts a thematic approach, ensuring that children are encouraged to make links between the different subjects. The school has also developed its own ICT curriculum that meets the objectives of the National Curriculum while referring to material used in English, Islamic studies, Maths and Science, thus encouraging children to use their IT skills in a variety of context. The school also offers a rich and diverse Extra Curricular programme where children have ample opportunities to express their creativity and develop their talent.
Creativity
The name of the school reflects the approach adopted by the school in terms of teaching and learning. In a rapidly changing world, a solid academic education remains essential but not sufficient. Creativity, the ability to adapt, innovate and communicate effectively is also vital. It is integral to the school’s aims to develop these capacities in every child by promoting the freedom to explore and take risk. At ISCS, the way the curriculum is delivered emphasises that more important than what the child learns is how he or she learns.
A Healthy Learning Environment
In addition to our emphasis upon academic achievement and the developing of critical thinking skills, we aim to encourage our children to explore the full range of attitudes and values which form the basis of high moral judgments. We foster in our children an ethical code which will give them a clear sense of right and wrong together with an appreciation of the many differences between good and evil. Our teachers will always encourage our pupils to explore the intended and unintended consequences of their actions within a supportive learning environment.
Social Partnership
we believe it is essential that children feel part of the global community and develop a sense of empathy for the less privileged in the society. ISCS has developed special links with humanitarian organizations, such as the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services or the Empowerment Society and regularly organizes fund raising events and activities where ISCS students and children from these organization interact together.
